About
PixelBin is an AI-powered platform designed to help businesses and creators manage, optimize, and distribute digital assets—including images, videos, 3D, VR, and AR content.
I led the redesign of PixelBin, an AI-powered platform for managing and editing images, videos, 3D, and AR content—driving a 35% increase in engagement and 22% boost in retention.

CHALLENGE
Users were hopping from erase.bg to upscale.media to watermarkremover.io—three sites for one job—without ever knowing they were all PixelBin. Meanwhile, the industry was racing ahead with Gen-AI and automated media workflows, and our scattered setup masked bigger strengths like DAM, CDN, and AR/VR.
My brief: fuse every tool into one intuitive hub so creators can glide between AI-powered transformations and manage assets end-to-end.

UX Research and Analysis
Why research
Our goal was simple: understand why 5.8 M monthly visitors converted at <1 %?
How we did it
15 client-and-customer interviews plus GA / Crazy Egg data mining surfaced three critical pain points—context-switch churn, signup friction, and hidden platform value—giving us a clear roadmap for journey fixes and later engagement gains.
What we learnt
- Context-switch churn – 40 % drop-off moving between tools.
- Signup friction – 65 % abandon at credit-card step.
- Hidden value – 70 % of users never realized PixelBin had DAM/CDN.

Summarised problems w.r.t platforms
Erase.bg
- Signup redirection confusion.
- No option to restore or change background.
- UI overloaded with excessive popups.
- Poor mobile optimization and low conversion rates.
- Low-quality image downloads dominate usage.
Watermark remover
- Watermark residue remains after removal.
- Free credit allocation may be too high.
- Confusing feature names require user education.
- Restriction on image uploads after free limit.
- Users struggle with the download limitation.
Upscale media
- Upload restriction after hitting free limit
- .4X, 8X upscaling should be premium-only.
- Users need to select features before transformation.
- Poor retention of previously uploaded images after login.
- Resolution cap (2500x2500) is lower than competitors.
Pixelbin
- UI/UX inconsistencies across platforms.
- High signup drop-offs due to complex onboarding.
- Confusion in image deletion process.
- Subscription status unclear to users.
- Users expect credit transfer across tools but it’s not supported.

Heatmap and Scroll behaviour
Observations
- Top Engagement: Most activity is on the headline, navigation, and primary CTAs.
- Drop-off Below the Fold: Interaction decreases significantly as users scroll.
- Low Activity on Secondary Elements: Minimal engagement with detailed content and
secondary CTAs. - Scattered Navigation Clicks: Users explore but some labels may lack clarity.
- Neglected Visuals: Decorative elements are not perceived as interactive.
Recommendations
- Optimize Below-the-Fold Content: Rearrange or simplify for engagement.
- Refine Navigation: Highlight key sections for better click-throughs.
- Enhance Secondary Content: Test new layouts or messaging.
- A/B Test CTAs: Experiment with wording, placement, and design to boost conversions.

Quantitative analysis
Exisitng platform Insights gained from Google analytics and Crazy egg-
Data gathered
- 5.8 M monthly visitors → just 1 % sign‑ups
- Five separate tool sites → one shared sign‑up page
- Users lost context during the domain switch, dropping mid‑journey.
Primary friction
- 40 % abandon at the cross‑site hand‑off
- 60 % abandon at the first credit‑card field
Root causes
- Repetitive file‑upload and form steps
- Inconsistent copy and visual cues between sites
- Surprise paywall messaging at checkout

How we laid out the information architecture
Your first product strategy doc isn't about perfection.
It's about structured thinking + stakeholder alignment.
After helping a few of my fellow PMs craft their first strategy, here's the output. We created a sitemap to bring five separate websites under one unified platform. Through ongoing discussions with stakeholders, we developed a structure that allows users to navigate different parts of the site with just one click, making the experience seamless and user-friendly.

Splitting Homepage Ui
into three logical blocks - What/Why/How?
We structured the storyline for PixelBin’s website to create a seamless first impression. We organized key sections like overall features, media capabilities, AI tools, CDN efficiency, use cases, and developer access in a hierarchy.
On the left, we outlined PixelBin’s purpose, benefits, and usage while
On the right side visually reinforces these concepts with reference screenshots. This approach ensures clarity, strengthens the value proposition, and guides users toward sign-up.

Growth Strategy / User Experience / Design System / VISUAL DESIGN
Mini‑Studio: One place to perfect images -
instant AI tweaks that boost downloads and keep users in flow.
Unified pre‑download edits drove +18 % paid conversions, +25 % session time, and reduced churn.
The issue
Current problem
Users of our platforms like Erase.bg, Watermark Remover, and Upscale.media had limited incentive to upgrade to a paid plan. With only a few free downloads available and minimal feature differentiation, our tools were easily replaceable. Competitors offered similar transformations, often with added benefits—such as background blur after background removal—making it effortless for users to switch.
As a result, we struggled to retain users, lacked a unique selling proposition, and saw fewer signups, lower conversions, and ultimately, reduced revenue.

STEP 1
User clicks on Upload button

STEP 2
Transformed image/output

problems listed here
Navbar
CTA’s Overload
Too many buttons on the Navbar. No clear hierarchy and order of Primary, Secondary and Tertiary CTA.
Upload container
Visual
Too much context in the Upload Widget. The design was overloaded with instructions and lots of un-necessary CTA were adding to the distraction.
No dummy photos were provided for the users who just wanted to try out the platform without uploading the photos.
No dummy photos were provided for the users who just wanted to try out the platform without uploading the photos.
Transformed output
Experience
The output of the transformed images was pushed down to the second fold of the screen. The upload Widget being bulky took a lot of space on the first fold - not ideal for good user experience
Incetivisation
Conversion rate
Lack of incentives for the user to sign up and convert to a paid user. No additional options

And its responsive too!
More than 70% of our users were on mobile. We needed to built a solution that was scalable to small devices. Hence we made the Mini-studio fit into the tiniest device once could use. I know you are probably thinking about smartwatches now!!!
